Community Bakers, Fall 2001

    Community: WEEK 5

All of our events went well last Tuesday. A neat moment took place at the visit to Monroe School with Ed McDaniel and several of the linebackers, including Lemanski Hall and Patrick Chukwurah. During the Q & A a 4th grader asked, "What is it like to not have Korey Stringer on the team this year?" Lemanski took the question because he lockered next to Korey. He said because a locker room is pretty tight quarters, he and Korey used to call the space right in front of their lockers their yard. If one of Korey's flip-flops was in front of Lemanski's locker, he'd say to Korey, "Get that out of my yard." So, in respect for Korey, now that his locker is empty, Lemanski has explained to Patrick Chukwurah, who lockers on the other side of Korey's locker, that it is their responsibility to keep Korey's "yard" clean. So on Wednesday, after the team went out for practice, I went into the locker room and of course there were clothes, shoes and towels all over the place. I then walked over to Korey's yard. It was totally clean.
